Miniimizing 'Punishment' - marrying a non-JW

i’d like to marry my best friend of 30+ years, turned ‘secret’ girlfriend of 1 ½ years who is a jehovah’s witness, born into it, baptized and an active ‘pioneer’.

our marriage would happen prior to letting any of her jw friends and cohorts know that we are together.

once married she may simply come forward and ‘admit’ or we may wait until it’s found out – one way or the other, the reason for this marriage is not customary – i am hoping that by doing so she can avoid being ‘marked’ or possibly ‘disfellowshipped’ once our relationship is no longer a secret and due to our already being married at that point, there can be no notion from society elders about her ending the relationship.

After a lifetime in this religion and still trapped because of family, let me tell you something. BTW my parents were baptised in the 1940's and little George was never going to school in this old system.

Even if your GF manages to avoid being DF'ed (highly unlikely) and remains a pioneer (not a chance) what sort of married life can you expect? She will not want to associate with your "worldly" friends and you will definitely not want to associate with her JW friends. What happens come Christmas and birthdays? What happens when it is Regional Convention time? Does she go alone or do you tag along and go shopping while she is in the sessions? What happens if there is an emergency and one of you requires a blood transfusion?

My simple piece of advice is RUN LIKE HELL! You will thank me one day even if I'm pushing up the daisies!

Was 536 the Worst year in history

jws believe that today, the time we live in is the worst time ever in history.

i know cause i just had a jw tell me yesterday this was the case.

he pointed to covid, the russian-ukraine war, the high gas prices and the food shortage happening.

Things have been bad over the last two years with Covid and the Russia/Ukraine problems.

However, just remember WW2, it went on for six years! Bombings all over Britain, soldiers going to fight and never returning or returning with dreadful physical/mental issues. The death toll was horrendous. The food shortages and deprivations continued long after the end of the war, I remember the ration books well into the 1950's. Then petrol was rationed because of the Suez crisis, my father had a motorbike so he got half a gallon per week.

End time religions like JW's just pray for wars and earthquakes or other natural disasters just to keep the membership up or the lax ones returning.

administering a blood transfusion when directed by a superior - jehovah's witness policy effective june 15th, 2018. while the hospital liasion committee elders were instructed that they may inform doctors and nurses of this decision, this letter was not allowed to be distributed to anyone outside of hlc members.. as a result of the concealment of this letter, and by virtue of the fact that this information was only to be shared verbally with jehovah's witness medical professionals and others, confusion erupted across the united states and in other branch offices of jehovah's witnesses.

countless letters were received at watchtower headquarters in new york from concerned jw nurses, paramedics, and others who were instructed verbally on this new policy, but which contradicted existing written policy that had been in effect for many decades.. in addition to letters from witness medical professionals, circuit overseers in the field wrote to the us branch and hospital information desk in new york about the problems caused by this unreleased policy.

for example, south carolina circuit overseer brandon roberts reported to headquarters that "the majority of the nurses in our circuit were not aware of this updated policy.

I thought it was Geoffrey Jackson most recently married.

No beards...even Jesus! Strange Watchower rule for brothers!

watchtower 1954 p.511 "why do watchtower publications now show jesus with short hair and no beard?

because he is shown that way in older representations of him that are older then the traditional effeminate looking pictures.".

watchtower 1968 p.286 "bible evidence and a recent review shows that jesus did have a beard..." charles russell style of beard was popular at bethel...till rutherford took over.

Just received a copy of announcement (12-03-22) from Atlantis and friends saying just that. The announcement on jw.org Newsroom has disappeared however. Probably a case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. Or even the left hand for that matter.

We had a letter read at the mid-week meeting asking if any brothers have spare property the WT Society can use. It is for LDC members and possibly displaced brothers. Any empty property including holiday homes or annexes but must be in good condition.

Also spare capacity in home though the head of the house must decide on the risk to any elderly/vulnerable in the household.

If there is still a risk, which of course there is, why even ask. No mention of rental rates of course!

but that only proves the accusation that the Borg is too USA centric.

Exactly. It is not over here in England and hopefully the Branch Office will use some common sense before allowing KH meetings to resume. Regionally, here in the SE the infection rate and death rate has been well above the national average all the time the GOV.UK site has been reporting statistics.

Last night people at the ZOOM meeting were ecstatic about getting back until the congregation secretary reminded them we may not be back by 1st April, it depends on direction from the branch office. That did little to quell the excitement however.

Atlantis provided the two files on hybrid meetings and I think that is the way forward for the future. The young and fit can go to the KH and hug each other all they want. Those of us older and wiser (?) can stay at home with a cup of cocoa!
